Rio-born Brazilian composer/singer/pianist Luiz Simas is a genuine Carioca! A New Yorker since ‘89, he has performed in the US, Brazil and in Europe. Luiz’ voice and music have warmed major venues including Birdland, Carnegie Hall and Bargemusic. He’ll be joined at Amazing Things by his special guest Marilynn Mair, who has performed at Carnegie Hall, at the White House, at Lincoln Center, and in Europe, Japan, and Brazil. She has earned the title, “First Lady of the Mandolin”. Marilynn is a Professor of Music at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.

The program will start with Luiz on piano and vocals playing his infectious original tunes as well as beloved Brazilian bossa standards, and then continue with Marilynn and Luiz playing together beautiful Brazilian choros.
