The World Cafe Quartet was created to play an eclectic repertoire of Brazilian choro, French musette, American jazz, originals, and arrangements of beloved composers like Charles Mingus and Eric Satie. They performed somewhat infrequently on the eastern seaboard of the USA, and on tours to Spain, France, Italy, and Japan. Their CD, Metro, was recorded in 3 days and proved to be a surprise hit with critics and concert audiences. It is, unfortunately, currently out of print. Although the original Quartet will not perform again, the concept remains alive and re-emerges as one of Marilynn’s ensembles, under the same or a different name, from time to time.
