Workshops

Marilynn offers mandolin workshops  as well as concert performances, and these can be combined with a concert or run as a stand-alone event. Past events have included traditional master classes, ensemble coaching,  and lecture-demos on classical mandolin, Brazilian Choro, style periods of music history, American music, and other topics. Marilynn’s main avenue for teaching is her long-running American Mandolin & Guitar Summer School, that she started in the 1980s. AMGuSS weeks feature a conducted plucked-string orchestra, small ensemble coaching, and workshops on topics of interest. AMGuSS 2023 will be held from June 19-24.

Marilynn teaches a mandolin week every summer at the SummerKeys workshop in Lubec, Maine. The SummerKeys musical programs are designed to offer the busy adult student the opportunity to become immersed in private study and practice.  There are no admission requirements, and the premise is: “Come as you are to enjoy the study, the work and the beauty of the Maine Coast. This year Marilynn’s Mandolin week is July 10-14, 2023.
